These young lads in England, take your opportunity and let these lads fall by the wayside
Roy Keane on England and Dele Alli
ITV presenter Mark Pougatch, talking to Keane, says Alli will be wondering where it has all gone wrong for him.
Pougatch said: “If you’re [Jesse]Lingard or Dele Alli, interesting Dele Alli this week, getting rid of all of his commercial activities, realising that maybe he’s at a bit of a tipping point of his career: ‘hang on a second, I was the bright young thing at Tottenham and England and that’s not the case any longer’.”
Keane reacted by saying Alli should have cut the commercial side out at least a year ago.
And with youngsters like Mason Mount and James Maddison earning call-ups, Keane doubts whether Alli will get back into the Three Lions side.

“Yeah, we saw the signs with one or two of these young players you mentioned who have disappeared,” Keane said.
“They should have done that about a year ago. And they mightn't get a chance to get back in [now], that’s what happens in football.
“Timing, these young lads in England, take your opportunity and let these lads fall by the wayside.”
Former England striker Ian Wright says it is good Alli and one or two others have taken these steps.

“I think it’s a good thing that they’ve recognised, or these people have recognised, it’s about the football, concentrate on the football,” Wright said.
But Keane was having none of it.
“They should have recognised it a year ago,” the Irishman concluded.
