James Tavernier insists Rangers are prioritising the Scottish Premiership over the Europa League despite their impressive victory over Porto.
The Gers defeated the Portuguese giants 2-0 on Thursday at the Ibrox Stadium thanks to goals by Alfredo Morelos and Steven Davis in an impressive performance.
However, Tavernier is adamant that the club is more focused on ending Old Firm rivals Celtic’s dominance and winning the league for the first time in nine years.
The right-back believes that any success in Europe is a “big bonus” to their season.
First and foremost, it's about trying to compete for the league

Tavernier told Sky Sports: "First and foremost, it's about trying to compete for the league.
“European football is a great addition for the club and the fans. It's a big bonus for us.
“But everyone is here primarily for the league so we need to get three points at the weekend.
“We don't want to be going into the international break having dropped any points because it definitely lingers when you do. The Porto game will be certainly forgotten about.

“We have to keep the momentum going. We need to get a level of consistency.
“Last season we had speed bumps along the way that cost us. We can't afford to let that happen."
Nevertheless, Tavernier is not underestimating the team’s success over Porto.
The former Newcastle ace ranks that win as one of the best results in his time at Rangers.
