Mason Mount's priority has emerged while speculation about his Chelsea future refuses to go away, with several suitors monitoring the situation. The 24-year-old midfielder could leave Stamford Bridge after 18 years this summer as his contract continues to wind down.
According to The Athletic, Mount's preferred option would be to remain at Chelsea despite pushing back contract offers ahead of his 2024 expiry.
He still earns the same salary he signed up for in 2019 as he entered the senior squad, which is thought to be far below £100,000 per week.
But since then, Mount has been a crucial player under Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, named Chelsea Player of the Season by fans in the last two seasons.
And he will know how much more his peers operating at similar importance will earn at their respective clubs.
The report adds that the strength of Mount's loyalty has grown more up for debate as contract negotiations have stalled.

His representatives haven't taken too kindly to learning that Chelsea plan to cash in on him this summer if he doesn't agree a new deal.
Mount's long-term relationship with the club could help find a breakthrough, but growing interest in his services has opened the realm of possibility for a departure.
It's claimed that Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been eyeing Mount since last summer.
Overseas, Juventus are reportedly keen, while Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich arrival has sparked talk of a potential reunion in Bavaria.
