Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea ‘has rinsed the club for many years’, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor. The Spain international’s long-term future at Old Trafford is currently up in the air. And while the Red Devils want to tie him down to a new deal, he’s still facing criticism after nearly 12 years at Old Trafford.
De Gea has been a regular for United this season and the club are hoping to tie him down to a new deal on reduced terms.
But Agbonlahor, speaking to Football Insider, believes the Spain international isn’t worth the hassle and thinks the 32-year-old has ‘rinsed’ the club for many years.
“He’s in a completely different situation to Marcus Rashford, who is also out of contract soon,” he said.
“Rashford is 25, De Gea is into his thirties.
“Rashford has been in the form of his life, De Gea hasn’t. Why would Man United be happy to keep him on his ridiculous contract?

"I’ve been here many many years, enjoying every moment in this club playing many games,” De Gea told Sky Sports.
"Of course it's great to be here, it's a massive club and I love the club and I’m really happy here of course.
"It's been the same over the years, there's a lot of noise around the club but players just focus on games, especially the one we have one Sunday - a massive game for us because we want to finish in the top four.
"Like I say, we have many many games so I think we have to be really really caring on training, recovering well, helping the team and that's the most important thing, more than contracts or anything."
United do have Dean Henderson returning from Nottingham Forest at the end of the campaign.

But, earlier in the season, the England international slammed the Red Devils over broken promises.
"I didn't want the manager to come in and be able to see me in training,” he said.
“I knew he'd probably want to keep me, so I tried to do it all before I left for the season.
“I told all the hierarchy I need to go and play football, I don't want to be here playing second fiddle.
"It was all planned out. I was almost gone before the manager came through the door and I haven't spoken to him since.

“To be honest with you, it's probably been the toughest 12 months of my career. It's been tough, it's been hard and I'm so happy I've got out the other end of it. I'm so excited to be here and ready to go.
"The conversation I had coming out of that Euros squad was ' you're coming back here to be the number one goalkeeper'.
“I got Covid, come back, I should have still been the number one, but unfortunately, no-one followed through with anything they told me.
"It was frustrating because I turned down so many good loans last summer for that reason and they wouldn't let me go. So, it was frustrating. To sit there and waste 12 months, it's criminal really at my age.
"I was fuming. But I worked hard off the pitch and on the training pitch to keep improving day in, day out. So I'm really excited to be here. I'm looking forward to the season with Forest."
