made a brutal admission about Chelsea's performance against Liverpool's title rivals Arsenal. The German - who is into the final month of his Liverpool career - admitted he wasn't impressed by the west London outfit's showing.

Klopp would've been hoping Chelsea could give his side a helping hand in the title race by knocking fellow contenders Arsenal off their stride. It didn't pan out like that, with Chelsea instead suffering their heaviest defeat in a London derby since the mid-1980s.

Speaking ahead of the Merseyside derby, Klopp said: "We have to keep being a pain for everybody. It is difficult to ignore the Arsenal game from last night. We were aware of it as well. I watched five minutes and thought that was enough.

"That is the situation and we have to win all of our games. The situation we are in is a good situation but it is one where it is not in our hands, but we can keep it as close to our hands as possible by winning our own football games."

Not only did the win take the Gunners back to the top of the table, but it also helped extend their impressive goal difference. It means, should Liverpool wish to add a second Premier League title under Klopp to their honours list, they'll have to hope Arsenal slip-up somewhere between now and the end of the season.

If not, it will mean Klopp's final season in charge of the Reds will end with just one trophy to show for their efforts - which looks the most likely outcome following their 2-0 defeat against Everton on Wednesday night. The ex-Borussia Dortmund chief will depart following Liverpool's final game of the Premier League season, with current Feyenoord boss Arne Slot tipped to take over.

However, former Liverpool defender-turn Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool's pursuit of Slot highlights the lack of top-quality managers on the market. He said: "From Feyenoord to Liverpool is a huge jump and I think it shows at this moment that there's probably a dearth of real top managers out there, when you look at who Liverpool are going for.

"Initially it was Xabi Alonso - it's only his first full season as a manager - then there was talk of Ruben Amorim from Sporting, who's only 39. Now Arne Slot is the favourite."

Liverpool came into the derby hoping to maintain their title tilt but the defeat has left their chances in tatters and three points behind Arsenal and only one in front of Manchester City, who have two games in hand on them.
