change of approach in the transfer market could allow them to target talisman , which would not only bolster attacking options but significantly strengthen those of one of the Gunners’ rivals. Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain after a recent touchline bust-up with , with just over a year left on his current contract.

The Telegraph claim that Arsenal may pivot from their previous plan to bring in a marquee centre-forward, instead targeting an elite winger. Kai Havertz’s emergence as a starting striker has allowed sporting director to focus attention elsewhere and provide further competition for the likes of , and Leandro Trossard instead.

That change in plans would be entirely dependent on which players are available in the summer, though few wide forwards would be considered of a higher calibre than Salah.

The 31-year-old has 17 goals and nine assists in 29 appearances and continues to be linked with a move away from Liverpool, coinciding with the exit of Klopp.

Recent reports have suggested that under incoming head coach , but without talk of a new contract on the horizon, the Reds may be tempted to cash in while they can and get a sizable fee to help kickstart a summer rebuild at Anfield.

Not only would Salah provide competition for Saka on the right flank, with the star desperately in need of a team-mate that can shoulder the load and allow for the 22-year-old’s minutes to be managed more regularly, but the Egyptian can also compete centrally with Havertz.

Salah is still considered one of the league’s standout players and would give Arsenal another edge over and Liverpool for next season, adding an elite attacking option that can guarantee goals.

Arteta bemoaned the lack of a reliable goalscorer last month after crashing out of the at the hands of , a problem that Salah would be able to solve and require little time to adapt.

"We don’t have a 30, 40 goals on someone,” Arteta explained after their European hopes were ended in Germany. “We have to share them and that’s a good quality in the team."

Salah is available to Arsenal for perhaps the first time since taking English football by storm, is already well-versed in existing in a high-press system, and can add another element to the Gunners’ dominant attack with the promise of goals.

Arsenal have hit the back of the net on more occasions than any other team in the league this season and Salah could be the cherry on the cake, especially if Liverpool are willing to cash in on their frustrated star.
