But Gray feels the signings of Nikica Jelavic, Vladimir Weiss and James Beattie have vastly improved the Ibrox side's chances.
Gray said: "If you had asked me just 10 days ago, I'd have said it's a
massive ask for Rangers. All we were seeing was players leaving the
club. The likes of Kris Boyd was a big loss.
"But all of a sudden the club brings in some new players and things are
looking up.Rangers have gone out and spent for the first time in two
years. They've brought a player in for £4million for the first time in
five or six years.Obviously, it's never going to be easy, but Walter
has great experience. All that's required is a couple of decent results
early on then you think, 'OK, we can get through this'."
Being drawn in Group C will also mean C for cash as Rangers will rake
in over £4m in gate revenue alone with three 50,000 sell out games
guaranteed and a three match package tickets likely to cost £75.That
will be added to the £12m jackpot already secured by UEFA
