Coventry v Barnsley: Gary McSheffrey scores
Coventry 3, Barnsley 0
Home is definitely where the heart is for Gary McSheffrey.
Coventry City winger McSheffrey bagged his third goal in as many home games at the Ricoh Arena following his return in the summer from Birmingham City.
Late strikes from Carl Baker and Jordan Clarke completed Coventry’s comfortable win and McSheffrey said: “It’s nice to get three home goals on the spin and hopefully I can keep that record going.
“It’s great to be back at the club. I can relax and enjoy my football again. It became a bit of a chore for two years . It’s nice to have the shackles off.
“The Championship is close this season and it is there to be taken. ”
Barnsley keeper Luke Steele admitted the team are lacking confidence, saying: “We were pretty poor. We’re on a bad patch away from home. Confidence is a bit low.
“In some ways it might be better that we lost 3-0 rather than 1-0 – it may be the kick that we need. We don’t seem to be good enough in front of goal . That’s the big thing .”
