Nottingham Forest v Ipswich: Grant Leadbitter still has hope
Nottingham Forest 2, Ipswich 0
ROY Keane has written off hopes of automatic promotion and admitted he has eight months to save his job but Ipswich midfielder Grant Leadbitter is refusing to press the panic button.
Leadbitter is targeting a victory against Northampton in the Carling Cup tomorrow to ease the tension and prevent Keane from becoming the latest casualty of the managerial sack race.
Ipswich slumped to a third successive defeat with David McGoldrick and Lewis McGugan’s 35-yard super strike extending Forest’s unbeaten home run to 26 games.
“We don’t want any grumbles and we have to stick together,” said Leadbitter. “We’re right behind the manager.
“Every team go through a bad spell. We have to bounce back and get into the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup.”
Ipswich could do with a finisher such as McGugan just now, with McGoldrick saying: “Lewis is a great talent. He has one of the best strikes I’ve ever seen.”
