SEAN SCANNEL grabbed his first goal for Huddersfield as they got back on track following two straight defeats.
Scannell struck to condemn lowly Bristol City to a fifth consecutive Championship defeat.
It was a deserved victory for Simon Grayson’s men, who are back in the promotion mix.
City though face a survival fight after an eighth successive Championship game without a win.
The game finally burst into life when Town struck with their first meaningful attempt two minutes before the break.
Lee Novak picked up the ball on the left of the area and squared it for Scannell to sweep the ball past Dean Gerken.
City almost struck back immediately when a goal-bound shot from Cole Skuse was defelcted wide but Huddersfield had numerous chances to kill the game off as they stepped up a gear after the interval.
Grayson said: “The one little bit of quality we had led to the goal.”
