Steven Fletcher has been ruled out for six weeks after a shoulder injury he picked up in Sunderland’s 3-0 defeat against West Brom last Saturday.
Steven Fletcher has been ruled out for six weeks
This couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Black Cats who currently sit at the bottom of the table without a manager and now sans their top marksman from last season for a month and a half.
Sunderland will miss their key striker for tough games against Liverpool, Manchester Utd, Manchester City and for the Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle.
Fletcher’s injury occurred in only his second start since returning from the ankle ligament problem that sidelined the Scotsman since March.
Summer signing Jozy Altidore will have to find form as he is yet to score a goal in the league this season.
