Tim Sherwood wants Tottenham to set the tempo in games early [ACTION IMAGES]
Tottenham were below par in the first-half as Everton carved out a number of decent chances that they couldn't take.
Though Tottenham eventually came out on top, Sherwood has noticed a recurring pattern in games that has left him feeling uneasy.
"We started slowly again and Hugo [Lloris] kept us in the game," said Sherwood.
"We have got to address that. We started slow against Man City and it nearly happened again.

"I sat them down at half-time and told them we needed to put more pressure higher up the field, and to be nice and compact as we were far too deep."
Sherwood however recognised Spurs' battling qualities and insists they will have to dig deep to ensure a top four finish.
"More games will be grinded out like that one rather than smashing teams three or four nil. That's not going to happen!", he added.
