The goalkeeper is the only senior player on duty at the club’s Surrey training ground right now as he undertakes his early rehab sessions after picking up his injury during the Champions League semi-final.

He went under the knife in the final week of the domestic season, on May 7, and is expected to be out for nearly three months.

But Cech, 32, is facing a challenge for his place as No1 from Belgium keeper Thibaut Courtois from next term.

Courtois, 22, who has been on loan at Atletico Madrid for the past three seasons, is expected back at Stamford Bridge for pre-season training this summer after World Cup duty.
