EXCLUSIVE: Ronny Deila has to deliver a Celtic victory
CELTIC legend Charlie Nicholas has warned Ronny Deila his managerial reputation hinges on this weekend’s League Cup semi-final and losing to Rangers would be a “job-breaker”.
Ronny Deila says it's vital for Celtic to win the semi-final
The Express Sport columnist admits the Norwegian has made decent strides in recent weeks but knows that will all be forgotten if they lose at Hampden on Sunday.
Nicholas reckons Celtic and Deila go into the first Old Firm game in three years with everything to lose and nothing but a cup final place to gain.
“Ronny Deila’s entire reputation rests on this game,” said Nicholas.
“If Celtic were to lose, there would be a lot of fans who’d turn against him. For him, this match could be a job-breaker.
“He’d get stick if Celtic were to lose, but wouldn’t be the only one – the board would come under fire as well.
“Celtic’s honour is at stake, but if you look at their team they should have enough to win.”
