Mick Quinn PLEADS to van Dijk on behalf of Liverpool
The former Liverpool midfielder tweeted earlier that a move for the Southampton centre-back was on the cards.
He wrote: “Vvd on his way to Lfc some spending g going on from FSG #lfc.”
The tweet received more than 1,500 retweets and sent Kop fans into a frenzy.
Boxer Derry Mathews tweeted Thompson to ask him about the deal and said: “Tomo I told them all and they laughed now there asking what times he's arriving.”
Thompson then replied: “Was told it's happening mate fingers crossed the reach agreement now.”

It has since emerged that a move looks increasingly likely, prompting Thompson into action again.
He tweeted: “Southampton keep moving goalposts #Lfc.”
Former footballer Micky Quinn issued an on-air radio plea to Southampton fans earlier today.
“A plea on behalf of Liverpool fans to Southampton Football Club,” Quinn said on talkSPORT.
“We’ve had a few dealings in the past. Mr (Mauricio) Pellegrino, you’ve kept two clean sheets this season, you don’t need Virgil van Dijk.
