Marcus Rashford has struggled for gametime at Manchester United

The Manchester United boss has had to watch on as neighbours Manchester City steamrolled their way towards an almost certain Premier League title.

Mourinho has a wealth of attacking talent in his ranks at present.

But the United boss has been criticised for not playing youngsters Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on a regular basis.

The duo have been linked with moves away in the summer.

And Mourinho today hit back at reporters who asked about his plans to sign a striker, claiming he cannot buy any more players while he is struggling to include first-team stars.

"No, no," he responded to a question about new arrivals.

"If I have more competitions for him I have more comp for the other ones you are saying are not happy because they are not playing.

"I probably have to reduce and have a squad of 12 or 13 players.

"Only 11 can start.

"The same questions you are doing to me, you should do to every other manager because everyone has players in the same situation."

Rashford is almost a certainty to be on the plane to the World Cup this summer.

But the 20-year-old will be hoping for regular gametime to ensure his name is on Gareth Southgate's starting team sheet.

As for Martial, France's World Cup squad is brimming with talent, meaning a lack of Premier League minutes may throw his position in the squad into doubt.
