Steven Gerrard is the hot favourite to take over from Graeme Murty at Rangers
"I’ve held initial talks with Rangers and the plan is to pick them up in a couple of days time. We’ll see (if it happens).
"Yeah there is (an interest), as I said I’ve held positive talks with them.
"The plan, obviously I’m busy for a couple of days now, but I’ll pick it up on Thursday and see if I can progress it."
If Gerrard were to accept the Rangers job, it would be his first venture into senior management.
The former midfielder’s only experience so far is as boss of the Liverpool under-18s.

Chelsea legend and BT Sport colleague Frank Lampard believes Gerrard will be able to deal with the pressure at Rangers.
“In terms of the size of the club and knowing Steven pretty well, I think it’s a great opportunity for him,” Lampard told talkSPORT on Tuesday morning.
“If it feels right, I think he can handle that pressure from his playing days, he’s no stranger to that with the career he had in the game.
“He has cut his teeth at Liverpool with the young lads there and at some point Steven is going to step out of that and go into managing men, managing a first-team.
“So that’s why I think Rangers would be a great opportunity for him.”
