The Argentinian has spent his entire career at the Catalan outfit, racking up 635 appearances over a 14-year period.

During that time, many iconic names have left the Nou Camp in big money deals, most notably Neymar, who was sold to PSG for a world-record £200m last summer.

Messi claims he will never leave Barcelona of his own volition, unless he is offered a return to childhood side Newell's Old Boys.

But it appears the Argentinian doesn't have to worry about being sold, as Bartomeu claims no club has ever attempted to purchase him.

"No one has ever called us to ask us how much Messi is worth," he told radio station RAC1.

Despite approaching the business end of his career, Messi looks set to remain at the top of European football in the coming years.

The 30-year-old has won four Champions League trophies during his Barcelona career.

And Bartomeu believes Messi will achieve another success in the competition before he leaves the La Liga giants.

"There is still time for Messi to win one, two or three Champions Leagues before he retires," he added.

"We have always said that in the Champions League consistency isn't the most important thing.

"Real Madrid have had good Champions League games recently.

"We need to keep working on that aspect to get to finals."
