Brooks Koepka's confident Greg Norman message as LIV Golf rebel prepares for Masters

Greg Norman is convinced that Brooks Koepka could make a statement at the Masters this year, after hearing a powerful two-word message from the golfer during practice.

Scottie Scheffler reflects on winning 2022 Masters

The Masters is back on Thursday as the best players in golf prepare to battle it out for the famous green jacket at Augusta National. Scottie Scheffler will be hoping to defend his crown after starring last year, but former world No.1 Brooks Koepka is feeling extremely confident ahead of the iconic competition.

Koepka has returned to form since leaving the PGA Tour to join the LIV Golf Invitational Series in 2022, with two league wins in Jeddah and Orlando respectively since making the move. His most recent success came this month in Orlando, and Koepka will be hoping that already winning in the United States will be a good omen for the Masters.

Koepka shot to world No.1 back in 2018 after winning the U.S. Open in 2017 and 2018, and the PGA Championship in 2018 and 2019. Koepka became the first golfer in history to hold back-to-back titles in two majors simultaneously.

But after 2019 Koepka struggled to keep up his devastating form, something that's only recently returned since making the controversial move to LIV Golf last year. He's back in the mix for the Masters this week, and isn't there to make up the numbers.

According to former professional golfer, and LIV Gold CEO, Greg Norman, Koepka feels as though "he's back" just in time for the most prestigious golfing event. Norman made an appearance as a pundit on LIV Golf, and walked past Koepka practising while on his way to the studio.

Norman touched on their interaction while live on air, and the former professional was very impressed with Koepka's attitude. Norman said: "I just walked by him coming over here and I said 'Brooks, I've never seen you swing so free'.

"He was hitting the ball into the clouds and it was just so good to see him feel that way. He said 'I'm back'. So when you hear a player say that, it's happy days ahead."

Koepka's highest Masters finish came in 2017, when he was tied second behind winner Sergio Garcia. Koepka settled for a seventh-place finish the following year, but since then has failed to even make the cut.

In 2022, Koepka also failed to make the cut in the Open Championship, and couldn't make the top 50 in either the U.S. Open or the PGA Championship. But Koepka has since got back to winning ways, and many are tipping the 32-year-old to enjoy a comeback in the Masters this year.

He has tough competition with Scheffler and Rory Mcllroy both favourites to win the event. Jon Rahm is close behind them in odds, while Koepka is priced at 33/1 for his first Masters success.
