Seaside town named 'laid back capital of the UK' with stunning beaches and art galleries

When you're looking for a getaway you want somewhere that is laid back and relaxed, right?

Well, new research has revealed the ten most zen locations in the UK

In particular, when it comes to getting away from the rat race and our busy lives. London we're talking about you with this one.

So where is the 'laid back capital' of the UK we hear you ask, it turns out it's Bournemouth. This is according to a study by Supplement Place, which looked at 50 towns and cities across the UK to find factors such as happiness, life satisfaction and anxiety based on ONS data.

Researchers also looked at the number of Google searches each year including keywords such as greenspaces, meditation, parks near me, and yoga before rating each one and giving them a score.

What is there to do in Bournemouth?

Located in the county of Dorset, Bournemouth has seven stunning miles of beaches to enjoy.

The county itself scored highly on happiness and low on anxiety levels among its residents living there.

There's plenty to see and do there too with a seafront to enjoy, museums, galleries and let's not forget bars and restaurants too.

Bournemouth Pier can be enjoyed for all ages with seaside classics including a ferries wheel, amusement arcades and candy floss to be eaten.

There are also different spots to enjoy and soak up the great British seaside. Bournemouth Beach offers golden sands while Alum Chine Beach has fewer crowds.

Mudeford Sandbank Beach is slightly further away being a 20-minute drive from the piece but is definitely worth the journey thanks to its peaceful location.

Looking to get your culture fix then the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum is the place to go.

The gallery is inside a Grade II listed cliff-top mansion where art lovers can take in paintings and sculptures that it has to offer.
