Greenway Hotel & Spa Review

Located in the beautiful Cotswolds, near the Regency town of Cheltenham, Greenway Hotel & Spa is a 16th-century Elizabethan manor house surrounded by acres of stunning countryside.

The land originally belonged to the Lawrence Family in 1521 and was known as Little Shurdington Estate. William Lawrence inherited the estate in 1584 and started building the main house immediately.

In 1638, the manor was inherited by William Lawrence’s son and it stayed in the family for centuries. In 1946, the then-owner, George Constable Hayes, sold it again and a year later it became a hotel and part of the Eden hotel Collection.

Recently refurbished, the property boasts a classic style with a contemporary twist, elegant gardens, and spectacular countryside views - perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway.

The charming hotel has a total of 21 bedrooms, two restaurants and bars and an on-site spa, featuring beautiful decor combining the history of the building with a modern approach.

Greenway Hotel & Spa offers exceptional service and hospitality and is ideal for those looking for the ultimate luxury country escape this autumn. Upon arrival, guests can expect a warm greeting from the staff who will guide them to the room and show them the hotel features, and will be happy to solve any queries.

The Rooms

Rating: 4/5

The rooms at the Greenway Hotel & Spa recently underwent a luxury refurbishment and each one now features its own unique colour palette and personality.

There are seven different room types, including the Classic Lodge, Classic, Deluxe, Master, Feature, Manor Four Poster and Manor Suite.

For our stay, we were given the Manor Suite Room, a luxurious 39sqm space with a King bed, a private sitting room, a kitchen and an ensuite marble bathroom with a roll-top bath and brassware.

The best part of the room is the breathtaking view over the Cotswold Hills

The best part of the room was the stunning views over the Cotswold Hills, the lavish shower, and the bathtub, where guests can relax and enjoy some "me time" at the end of the day.

All hotel guests have complimentary spa access, which includes a gym, swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzi and sauna, when booking any 55-minute treatment.

Otherwise, a charge of £25 per person, per day will apply to residents who wish to use the spa facilities without a treatment booking.

Dining and Drinking

Rating: 5/5

The award-winning restaurant at Greenway Hotel, The Garden Room, uses the best local produce to create the most refined British cuisine, and options are available for all dietary requirements.

For lunch and dinner, the three AA Rosette fine dining restaurant offers guests traditional yet modern dishes with impeccable presentation, and in the most elegant space.

Visitors will enjoy a seasonal à la carte menu with views of the Cotswold Hills as background, and the attentive staff will share their recommendations ensuring guests have the most memorable dining experience.

The restaurant has a full drinks menu, including a wide range of wines, prosecco and champagne, as well as delicious cocktails. During our stay, we tried the delicious Artichoke and Smoked Duck and Rhubarb for starters and the perfectly cooked Ox cheek and Pork vindaloo. Some of the desserts include Date and Fig Pudding and Rhubarb and Custard. The Garden Room Sample Menu has a price of £46.50 per person for two courses or £59.95 for a three-course meal.

In the morning, breakfast is also available at The Garden Room - we enjoyed the continental buffet served, as well as à la carte options.
