Corrie: Sarah tells Damon to stay away from her

Coronation Street's Damon Hay actor, Ciaran Griffiths, tied the knot with his partner shortly after his exit from the ITV show.

The pair had a private wedding and later unveiled an adorable wedding snapshot on his social media. The 41 year old Manchester-born star, who now resides in Australia with his wife and their son, updated his profile picture featuring himself and his new wife posing in front of the iconic Sydney Opera House on a boat.

Griffiths previously shed light on the challenges of being away from his partner, saying in an ITV interview: "It was hard the first time, but my son is a bit older now, he understands a bit more so I don't feel as guilty leaving him, even though I'm doing it for them anyway," adding "But the weather's terrible, I'm never ill in Australia, yet I get here and straight away I've got a cold."

Initially visiting Australia in 2019 for a theatre gig, he ended up meeting his now-wife and settling down under.

Griffiths' surprise nuptials followed his decision to exit Coronation Street after a two-year stint with the soap. His concluding scenes aired last month showing Damon breaking things off with Sarah to protect her and her family, inviting her to visit him in prison before putting an end to their relationship.

As they sat together, he told her: "I don't want you to do that because I asked you here to tell you to your face, we're finished. I'm doing you a massive favour. You turned my world upside down but if I loved you, properly loved you, I wouldn't have done the stuff I've done. You've got to walk away. I'm sorry, it's my decision. Goodbye, Sarah.", reports the Mirror.

His character believed that the only way to keep her safe was for him to be behind bars and sever their connection. His stint on the series concluded, yet he hinted at a possible comeback to his role in the future.

"It's what he wants but it depends on what pressures he's under or what he has to do to get by. He might want to settle down on the street, but it's whether he'll be allowed to settle down on the street with his brother looming over him and Adam on his back.

"I don't think it's ever going to be plain sailing for Damon. There's always going to be someone who's out to get him, whether it be Harvey or Adam," he said regarding his potential future on the ITV soap. Given that the writers have resurrected his character twice already, there's optimism among viewers for another reappearance.
