Prince Andrew and Prince Edward have joined in the celebrations to mark the first anniversary of their elder brother's reign.

The Duke of York and the Duke of Edinburgh have attended St George's Chapel at Windsor for a special evensong marking King Charles's accession to the throne.

September 8 marks the first anniversary of King Charles III's reign, as well as the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

As soon as it was announced that the late monarch had died, King Charles immediately ascended the throne.

As siblings of the monarch, the two brothers also fall into the line of succession but are a lot further down with the King's sons and grandchildren placed before them.

As well as a day to celebrate the King, the royals will also have found the day to be very bittersweet.

Exactly one year ago today, the world learned that the late Queen had passed away at Balmoral at the age of 96.

The King has decided to remain at Balmoral, which is where he has spent the last few weeks.
