King Charles visits Royal School of Military Engineering in Surrey

King Charles beamed as he continued his busy jam-packed royal diary after snubbing Prince Harry in London yesterday.

The 75-year-old monarch was all smiles as he visited the staff and families of the 3 Royal School of Military Engineering (3RSME), the training base for the Army’s Royal Engineers in Cornwall - just hours after attending a Buckingham Palace garden party.

Despite Prince Harry being just a few miles away at St Paul's Cathedral in London, where he attended an Invictus Games ceremony, King Charles couldn't find the time to meet his youngest son due to an incredibly busy week filled with royal engagements.

Upon arriving at the training base, His Majesty the King, who is Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Engineers, chatted with Lord Lieutenant Nigel Atkinson and Major General Miller, before receiving a salute from a Quarter Guard comprising of officers from the school.

Inside the Officers’ Mess, His Majesty will speak to groups of engineering personnel and their families about their experiences training at the school and supporting their loved ones to become a Royal Engineer.

Before leaving, Charles signed the Regiment’s Visitors Book and received flowers and Royal Engineer china mugs from the children of some of the barracks’ serving soldiers.
