There’s bad news for fans of last year’s as it seems as though the popular spin-off won’t be returning again this year. The show saw iconic faces from previous years of I’m A Celeb return to camp for a second time.

According to a TV insider, they stated there are currently no plans for more series in the future. They told The Sun: “It may well return in the future so it’s not necessarily gone for good.

“But it definitely won’t be happening this year and there is nothing set in stone for when it will be. This will come as a disappointment to fans as had previously hinted that it would be back and it was expected that it would be an annual thing.”

The programme, which was filmed at the end of 2022 but aired in April 2023, saw the likes of Carol Vorderman, Helen Flanagan, Joe Swash and Phil Tufnell return. However, as the programme was pre-recorded there were no public votes.

Instead, the campmates had to vote on who would face the Bushtucker Trial which would decide who would be eliminated. When contacted by Express.co.uk, an spokesperson confirmed the show won’t be returning for 2024.

They said: “I'm A Celebrity... South Africa was commissioned to air in 2023 to celebrate favourite campmates from the past 20 years as they returned to the jungle.

“The series was one of the biggest Entertainment shows of the year averaging 5.2m across its consecutive weeknight run and reaching over 1 million 16-34s for the launch episode. It was never planned for the series to return again this year.”

The series provided plenty of entertainment throughout its duration before Myleene Klass was crowned the Jungle Legend.

The 46-year-old, who appeared in the show’s sixth series back in 2006, had to take part in a gruelling eating trial to take the crown.

Going head-to-head with Diversity star Jordan Banjo, Myleene had to eat 60 mouse tails and 40 spoons of fermented tofu.

With Jordan finishing in second place, Olympian Fatima Whitbread was third with ex-cricketer Phil Tufnell ending in fourth place.

Speaking about her win, Myleene said: “The first time round I wasn’t a mum so there was no jeopardy if I ran around the jungle for a few weeks in a white bikini.

“I had the time of my life and took on a few challenges and then I came out and everyone knew me for having a shower. There are worse things to be known for having. I had a ball the first time. This time round, I’m a mum and that changes everything.”

Myleene confessed she didn’t want to let her children down or say anything to embarrass them.

She added: “You don’t want to bottle out of a trial!”
