legend Robbie Fowler is in the frame to become the new manager of Blackburn. The Championship club have accepted the resignation of Norwegian boss Jon Dahl Tomasson after picking up just five points from their last 11 games. And Fowler is one of the names being discussed by owners Venky's to take over.

The 48-year-old England striker is looking for an opportunity to prove himself in the UK after travelling the globe to get a break.

Fowler departed Saudi club Al-Qadsiah in December despite winning six of his eight games in charge. He has also had successful stints in Thailand, India and Australia. But the chance of helping to resurrect 1995 Premier League champions Blackburn is a huge attraction.

Blackburn are also looking at former Birmingham boss John Eustace as a successor to Tomasson. Eustace helped to keep the Blues in the Championship last season against all the odds.

But Rovers are keeping their options open - and Fowler is being discussed as a potential new boss.
