manager Gary O’Neil has slammed Coventry rival Mark Robins’ ‘disgusting’ celebration after the Championship side stunned their opponents in the . Robins has apologised for celebrating in the face of a young ball boy, admitting that emotions got the better of him.

Coventry completed a remarkable comeback in added time to defeat Wolves 3-2 and book a place in April's semi-finals. Ellis Simms and Haji Wright struck deep into stoppage-time to overturn Wolves's 2-1 lead.

Robins revealed that he had grown agitated by what he perceived to be underhand tactics by the ball boy earlier in the match. After Wright's sensational 99th-minute strike, the Coventry boss celebrated in the face of the child.

O’Neil has called the celebration 'disgusting' and revealed that the young boy was upset over the incident. The Wolves manager said: "He apologised but to celebrate in a young boy's face is disgusting. The boy is really upset.

"It shouldn’t happen. I thought it was really important for me to speak to Mark about it because they’re just kids doing a job."

Robins blamed the emotion of the FA Cup for his actions. The 54-year-old said: "The young kid had earlier dropped the ball and walked away smiling. It really annoyed me, so I celebrated in front of him. I don't show emotion often but that's what the FA Cup does to you."

Coventry could be the only Championship team remaining in the FA Cup if Leicester lose against reigning champions Manchester City later on Saturday. Robins felt his side deserved to win against Premier League opposition.

He explained: "We created a lot of chances, their keeper was probably man of the match and it was one of those games where chances you missed might come back to bite us, 87-88 minutes we're 2-1 down. I was screaming at Fabio Tavares to get up the field because he was defending with eight minutes left.

"He showed real courage, real determination and the finishes were outstanding as well. I'm not sure if Ellis got his first one but the second one definitely was and Haji's, as soon as it left his foot I knew it was in."

Coventry were beaten by Luton in last season’s play-off final and have a chance to make amends in a Wembley-hosted FA Cup semi-final. Robins continued: "It means a lot to everybody. I've been tasked with quite a bit this season, the new owners have wanted a cup run, they've got a cup run, they're getting a cup run and also, we need to try and get into the play-offs three out of five years.

“It's not an easy feat, not an easy task but I've got incredible support and staff around the team whatever the scoreline is. It drives you on, it just gives you the energy, it's absolutely outstanding."
