Man Utd star forces Erik ten Hag into embarrassing 'U-turn' with Ratcliffe set to pay out

is reportedly set to remain at beyond this season, despite being put up for sale previously. has wasted no time in making significant changes at Old Trafford after acquiring a stake in his boyhood club, especially in regards to recruitment.

The Red Devils are expecting to splash the cash this summer to indicate a changing of the guard at the Theatre of Dreams. United are in the market for new signings at both ends of the pitch, with player sales set to fund several signings.

, Antony and Christian Eriksen are among those to have been sounded out as potential departures, with numerous other fringe stars pondering whether their long-term future lies with the Red Devils.

McTominay was previously cited as a player who could also be sold by United, with Ten Hag willing to green-light a move which would have seen the midfielder join . However, the Scotland international has proven his doubters wrong this season and retains the faith of Ratcliffe.

According to the Daily Star, McTominay is viewed by United’s new-found hierarchy as a ‘vital part of the future’ and his commitment to the club will be rewarded with a new and improved contract. The INEOS group would like to tie the 27-year-old down to a long-term deal and double his current wages to £120,000.

McTominay’s current contract at United expires in 2025, with the club having the option to extend the deal by a further year, meaning that Ratcliffe is under no pressure to strike an agreement with the Red Devils’ academy product.

The playmaker has scored nine goals and assisted three in 34 appearances in all competitions so far this season, breaking back into Ten Hag’s midfield trio and also showcasing his versatility by playing as a makeshift striker when required. McTominay was not fazed by links elsewhere last July, and his attitude is viewed as ‘exemplary’ both on and off of the pitch.

It remains to be seen whether the No. 39 can continue to make an impact next season given that United are in the market for midfield reinforcements to replace both Casemiro and Eriksen. star Amadou Onana and ’ Joao Gomes are among those to have been reportedly shortlisted as potential targets by Ratcliffe.
